the Revenant review

Fortget about the cool poster above, this movie is no where near a good or entertaining film !!

the whole concept was ridiculous and silly, it involves a soldier named Bart who dies in Iraq and is brought to the states for his funereal, we are soon indtrodcued to a very annoying character named Joey played by an equally annoying actor Chris Wylde, who is bart's best friend and buddy, we find him giving support to Bart's girlfriend and easing her grief. only to end up sleeping with her ! some friend !!

Well, Brat some how comes back to life as an undead, a Zombie, but he retains all his human brain activity, think Death becomes her 1992, and soon the two buddies are united and embark every night into action as a dynamic vigilantes who hunt and kill bad guys, and then eath them !!

one might think, the action and scenes might actually be funny or cool, but trust me, its not,  rather a very annoying and slow paced plot, and the action is very minimal.
the film fails in being both a commedy or a Horror, just unbalanced.

the acting was mediocre, and the plot was very shallow, lacking any meaning or goal.

if you want a some what similar, but far more superior film, just go back to Death becomes her with Bruce Willis and Meryl Streep !!

the Muppets review

I was looking forward to the Muppets with much excitement, I was thinking how i used to like the older show from the 70s, and so was eager to watch this new movie with high hopes and big expectations.

However, the Muppets really let me down, I was very disappointed with this terrible terrible movie.

and where do i start to explain how bad this movie is, and what went wrong !!?
I guess everything about it was very badly done and poorly executed. there was clearly a lack of imagination and lack of Muppets magic !!

Now I know that this movie is a family one, and is mainly aimed at kids and the young ones, however, it doesn't even appeal to kids as well, in fact, my kids lost interest early on and after only a few minutes from starting the movie.

So the movie starts with an introduction to a muppet named Walter, who for some unexplained reason is living with  Humans and has a human as brother, Gary played by Jason Segel.
Walter is a big fan of the Muppets " obviously !! " and he follows the show constantly during the 70s, soon the shows stops and the Muppets are no more and are forgotten by the world, so years pass by and we are jumped to our current time, where Walter and Gary are grown up and are ready to take a trip to Los Angeles to visit the Muppets studios and bring back the Muppets to life !!

Jason Segel was just not made for a role like this, he does not have the talent of a dancing and lively performer needed for such a role, and he looked uninterested as ever !! his acting looked so fake and unreal, even his photo on the poster above demonstrates that !!

we are also introduced to Gary's love interest and girlfriend, Mary played by Amy Adams, and here the love story is devoid of any believable emotions and is as boring as ever. I think the character development was poorly done for these two main characters and so no real attachment from the viewers towards them.

And while Amy was slightly better than Segel here, she still looked uninterested and her character lacked the charm needed. probably not Amy's fault but rather to the lack of creativity in character development in the script.

speaking of characters, almost every Muppet is brought back here, which might be a bad thing, because so much characters were squeezed into the film not allowing enough time for viewers to connect to certain Muppet characters. It was clearly aimed at focusing on Kermit, but even him was rushed into the film quickly without explanation to where he was and why he is living the way he was all  alone.

the plot was flat and silly, with a mixture of the Muppets reuniting and struggling to get back into show business and having to have to deal with an evil rich businessman who wants to take over the Muppet studios and turn it into some oil producing company or whatever. that villain role went to Chris Cooper, who also seemed out of place here and was one of the worst villains of all time in movie history, a Cliche of a villain with the obvious " ill get you Muppets " and " I will destroy the Muppets " lines !

It was clear that the people behind the movie were concentrating more on which celebrity to bring in as a Cameo rather than focusing on the plot. there were plenty of Cameo appearances including Selena Gomez and Zack Galifiankis which did not add anything special to the film.

the worst part of the film, is as i mentioned, the lack on imagination, magic and life in the movie. the dances and songs seemed lifeless and lacking the magic or spirit needed for such movies. it ended up dull and very very boring.

sorry to say this, but this gets a fat zero, avoid it !!

Seeking Justice review " Nicolas Cage's comback "

After a number of  really bad movies for Nicolas Cage recently, which included Ghost rider 2 and Drive Angry, I was having low expectations for Seeking Justice, however, the title and plot summary drew me to it as well as the rest of the cast which included Guy Pearce and January Jones " Emma Frost from X-men first class ".

the movie was much better than i expected, especially after reading some poor reviews on it, the characters were interesting enough, and the plot was an intriguing thriller that kept me attentive enough and never bored.

you would expect the usual from Cage, nothing special yet entertaining with his own kind of charisma. other actors were very good too, Guy Pearce played his character pretty well. some very cool action scenes added some exciting parts to the movie.

plot : After his wife Laura " Jones " is assaulted, a husband and teacher Will Gerrard " Cage " enlists the services of a vigilante group lead by Simon " Guy Pearce " to help him settle the score. Then he discovers they want a favor from him in return.

in short, an enjoyable action thriller movie with an above average plot and an entertainment performance from Cage, arguably, its Nic Cage's comeback film !!!

Chloe Moretz Latest

MGM and Screen Gems have set Chloe Moretz for the lead role in a remake of Brian DePalma's CARRIE that was based on the 1974 Stephen King bestseller.

According to Deadline, She will play the shy high school student Carrie White, who is raised by a religiously fanatic mother, and comes to grip with devastating telepathic powers just as she reaches puberty. She eventually uses those gifts in a lethal way when fellow classmates humiliate her during prom before the entire school.

Moretz, who appeared in HUGO, KICK-ASS and LET ME IN, will be seen next in Tim Burton's Dark Shadows.

Well, she is growing up quickly, I just hope she don't lose that cute babay face of hers during that process !! I mean look at what happened to Macaulay Culkin !!

the Descendants movie review

I was not really all that excited to watch the Descendants, for some reason i was feeling dull towards it, and to be honest, im not the big of a fan of Clooney.
In fact, I have always thought he was an over rated actor, at least not of an Oscar caliber. However, it has to be said, he really surprised me here, and proved me wrong.

What i liked most about the Descendants were the characters, the movie has one of the best characters i have seen in film, they seemed so real and portrayed human emotions with excellence. And all the credit for such loveable and brilliant characters goes the actors playing them, Clooney and the rest of the cast, including Shailene Woodley who plays Clooney's older daughter Alex King were all superb, even the young actress Amara Miller impressed me with her acting.

And while the story sounded a bit familiar, it was presented and executed in a fresh manner and used the Hawaiian history and locations as a central theme around which the plot took place.

In short, the story centers around Matthew King " Clooney " whom his wife is in deep a coma after a boating accident, and the movie explores Matthew's emotions and him coping with this tragedy. To make things worse, Matthew discovers his wife was actually having an affair before her accident which initiates a complex and mixed emotions. the movie also brings King's daughters into the mix and their interactions  with their grieving and angry father.

Quite and interesting plot with as i mentioned some very loveable and at times funny characters, the pace was steady and at times slow, but never boring.

Going back to Clooney, he was excellent and deserved the Oscar nomination.

highly recommended film. 9 out of 10

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy movie review

I was having some really high hopes for " Tinker Tailor..", because A) I am a fan of Garry Oldman who has an Oscar nomination for his role here, B) I like spy based films, and C) it had what it seems to be a solid cast
but I was hugely disappointed with this film.
now i knew before hand that it was a drama and had no action scenes, and that it was nothing like James Bond movies, and i had no problems with that because I really do enjoy most movies, even ones that moves in slow pace.
I just recently finished watching
Melancholia which was not a Spy film, but was very slow paced like Tinker Tailor and more of an artistic film which is not for everyone to appreciate, but i found it very enjoyable.

Sadly, Tinker Tailor was really really boring, it was slow paced and its major problem was that it was confusing and difficult to follow, I didn't know what was going on half the time, and nor how Smiley found the russian mole !
scenes were jumping from one place to another, and flashbacks were suddenly dropped within current events in the film adding much to the confusion,
I didn't read the book nor watch the TV series, which might have helped, but, if someone had to read the book to understand the movie, then the movie is a failure !

Now Gary Oldman deserves the nomination, his acting was top notch, and i also found the 70s feel to the film quite impressive, but the script really ruined the whole film for me despite these positive points.

the other main characters, including the ones played by Colin Firth, John Hurt and Mark Strong were poorly developed and seemed empty, i got lost between them,

there is a fine line between an intelligent film and a confusing one, and while Tinker Tailor tried to be some what intelligent, it fell short and ended up being a pile of muddiness,
don't get me wrong, i like films that tries to make you think and don't spell all the story out for you, but this one makes you dull rather than thinking because of its unclear confusing plot.
avoid it
